The rectangular Phi tiles and I aren’t the best of friends, and I really had to learn to work with them. This design, with some knot patterns like Zelus and CKnots, plus all the embellishments, strongly reminds me of the chintz fabrics originating from VOC ships. Chintz is the term for originally hand-painted, naturally dyed cotton fabrics from India. For years, I’ve made many quilts by hand and was already enchanted by the beautiful colors and patterns with their often antique appearance. Perhaps too much honor for my design, and when creating it, I didn’t even think about these rich fabrics until it was almost finished.

I use quite a variety of color and drawing materials, which is my style. Choose your own favorites, and even in black and white, this design will be extremely chic. In the materials list in the first minute of the video, I show and describe the brands I use, but don’t pay too much attention to that. During the recording, I’ll show the materials again, as well as the colors (names and numbers). If anything isn’t clear, don’t hesitate to contact me. As known, I don’t speak in my online workshops; with brief instructions, the lesson is easy to follow. My tip is to first practice the tangles as seen in the Tangle Practice video.
